About Fayette

Fayette first achieved Bird Friendly City status in 2020.

The paved trail that winds its way around and through the town of Fayette is a treat for birders exploring the region. The public areas along the trail, like Klock's Island City Park and Fayette County's Beeghly Property are maintained for both access and for wildlife and as the trail follows the Volga River through Upper Iowa University's campus the forest and restored prairie provide habitat for birds year-round. Bird-related programs and information at the Fayette Community Library are available to the public as well as binoculars and field guides that are free to be checked out for use.
